Christmas set menu at Rokko Japanese Grill Dining

Want a change from the usual turkey dinner? If Japanese cuisine is what you're craving for this Christmas, Rokko Japanese Grill Dining is the place for you. Situated at Le Apple Boutique Hotel KLCC, it is near KLCC and Avenue K and accessible via LRT at the KLCC station.

Available this month, the Christmas course at RM88++ per person includes an appetiser, salad, trio of sashimi, main course and of course dessert.

Chef Selection Appetizer: Scallop Kimiyaki, Kanpachi Tomato Sauce, Edamame

We started with the Chef Selection Appetizer, which has all my favourites!: succulent scallop Kimiyaki, Kanpachi (amberjack/ yellow tail fish) complemented by tomato sauce, and edamame (soybean).

The presentation was so pretty that we kept taking photos before finally digging in. Love the chunks of salmon.

For main course, choose from beef, chicken or salmon, with special mushroom white sauce. The mushroom sauce was lovely and complemented the dish. Each dish has asparagus, another favourite of mine!

I was torn between the chicken or salmon; in the end, I ordered the salmon and swapped some with my fellow diner who ordered chicken.

I'm pleased with my choice, thoroughly enjoyed the salmon ^^


Yuzu sherbet served with mixed fruit.
I just can't get enough of the yuzu sherbet, it's so refreshing, wish I could have more!

Citra Rasa restaurant @ Dorsett Putrajaya

This month, enjoy a selection of delicacies from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines at  Dorsett Putrajaya’s Citra Rasa restaurant.
For its Asean food promo, the hotel serves a buffet dinner spread of the best cuisines from our neighbour countries, brought together by internationally trained chefs and chef de cuisine Shahril Firdaus.
Diners can take their pick from the selection of appetisers, salads, soups, main dishes, noodles, desserts, pizzas, bread rolls, and fruits.
There are six menus on rotation.
There is a variety of appetisers from the five countries such as Thai Sweet Mango Salad and Thai Beef Salad; Vietnamese Rice Noodle Salad and Gob Bap Cai Ga (Chicken Salad); Indonesian Gado gado and Tau Foo with Bean Sprout; Salad; Ensaladay Pinoy (Green Salad) and Taven Mix Green salad from the Philippines; and our very own Acar Nenas and Sotong Kangkung.
The Tom Yam soup, which was the soup of the day at the time of the review, was an appetising start; other soup choices include Pumpkin Cream Soup, Soto Ayam and Cauliflower Cream Soup.

For mains, there’s Thailand’s Red Curry Chicken, Stir Fried Chicken with Thai Basil and Cashew Nut; Adobo Chicken, Fish Sinigang (Fish Stew), and Camaron Rebosado (Deep-fried Battered Seafood) from the Philippines; Indonesian Beef Rendang and Gule Kambing; Caramelised Beef Ribs and Muc Xao Thom (Fried Squid with Pineapple) from Vietnam.

As for our local dishes, there’s Ayam Masak Kicap Pedas, Nasi Hujan Panas, Pajeri Nenas.
Other dishes include Butter Prawn with Curry Leaf and Chicken Lasagne with Basil Oil.

There is also a pasta counter.
The noodle counter offers Laksa Johor, Pho Soup (Vietnam), Mie Celor (Indonesia), Thailand’s Chicken Khao Soi (Spicy Thai Chicken Curry Broth).
As for Asean desserts, there’s Thailand’s Kanom Wan Tai (Sticky Rice with Mango), the Indonesian Getuk Lindri (Coconut Sweet Potatoes Cake); Palitaw (Sweet Rice cake) from the Philippines; Vietnamese Che Chuio (Banana with Sago Pearl and Coconut Milk Sweet Soup) and of course local favourites such as assorted Malay kuih, Cendol Melaka, Pengat Keladi.

Other sweet treats are Black forest cake, Cheese Cake, Apple Pie, Pandan Swiss Roll, Vanilla Cream Brule, Soya Pudding, Fruit tartlet and Mocha Mousse in Cup.

Priced at RM68nett per adult and RM34nett for children between seven to 12 years old, the buffet is available from 6.30pm to 10.30pm from Monday to Saturday.
Diners at Citra Rasa can also enjoy a view of the Putrajaya Lake. The breathtaking sunset can be enjoyed in the comfort of the restaurant as well as on the breezy alfresco.
