What's for dinner?: Breaking fast at Eastin Hotel Petaling Jaya's Swez Brasserie

Eastin Hotel Petaling Jaya: Swez Brasserie
For many, nothing beats mom’s cooking and with that in mind, Eastin Hotel Petaling Jaya’s Swez Brasserie offers the Sajian Ramadan Ibunda for Ramadan.
Highlights include Ayam Bertebu (sugar cane barbecued chicken), Ikan Saba Bakar Berempah Bersama Daun Pisang (mackerel grilled in banana leaf), Daging Salai (smoked meat), Ikan Masak Asam (tamarind fish), Puyuh Goreng Sambal Hijau (fried quail in green sambal), Kambing Golek (roast lamb).

The rose apple acar served with the mackerel is appetising and good enough to be enjoyed on its own.
I also enjoyed the barbecued chicken as the meat was tender. Sugar cane is used as it adds flavour and colour during the caramelisation.
Durian lovers can rejoice as due to popular demand, the durian dessert corner is back for yet another year.
Eight types of durian desserts made from the King of Fruits will be offered daily, including durian bubur and pulut, durian crumble cake, durian profiterole, durian tart, durian cake, durian swiss roll, and durian cream puff.
My favorite was the durian profiterole and and the durian puff, which pastry was light and flaky.
While ais kacang is a staple at most buffets, I was excited when we were served the Philippines version Halo Halo as I have heard so much about it but have yet to try it.
The shaved ice dessert was served with a variety of fruits and topped with yam ice-cream, one of my favourite ice-cream flavours.
The Ramadan Early Bird Vouchers, which can be used from June 18 to 22, available for sale now until June 12 for RM91 nett per person.
From June 18 to 22, the buffet spread will be priced at RM 115 nett per adult and RM 58 nett per child while from June 23 to July 16, it will be priced at RM138 nett per adult and RM69 per child.
The buffet is open from 7pm to 10pm. The restaurant seats 220 pax.

Syomir Izwa’s Eid Luxe 2015 + Raya/ Resort Ready To Wear (RTW) collection

Exude style this Raya with local fashion designer Syomir Izwa’s Eid Luxe 2015 custom-made collection and Raya/ Resort Ready To Wear (RTW) collection.
He recently collaborated with Selberan and Laura Mercier to present the collections at Selberan’s outlet in Pavilion KL.
Both collections are adorned with Selberan’s latest collection the Saloma series, selected and paired by the designer himself.
The series offers a highly decorative series of rings, pendants and earrings that combine diamonds with red rubellites or lustrous pearls.
Exude a regal air with the Luxe collection, which was created from how the designer envisions modern royalty women would dress today.
Speaking to StarMetro, Syomir said there are 10 designs in this collection, each named after a queen or princess, which includes the Rania dress made of organza, Italian satin and embroidered net lace with embellished details; the Grace top and skirt set, made of soft crepe; the Kate Baju Kurung made of Moroccan crepe and tiered panel lace with embellished details.
The Raya/ Resort RTW collection was largely inspired by the migration of the people of Ceylon to Malaya.
The combination of rich culture from Ceylon and Malayan heritage is presented through the vivid colours and various textures.
Syomir uses organic bamboo cotton again after receiving rave reviews from his previous collection that uses the same material. This time around, he incorporated organza panelling into his designs and a special oriental print for some pieces.
The collection comprises of eight women’s sets, and one Baju Melayu for men, which comes in seven colours; all of which features the designer’s signature colour-blocking schemes.
Some of the sets can be sold separately such as the Kaseh, Teja and Mayang sets, perfect for those who like to mix-and-match.
Also in this collection is the Indah Jacket, which can be worn by men and women, made of organic bamboo cotton with a front detachable zipper.

The Raya/ Resort collection is available at Modvier boutique, ShoesShoesShoes outlets at Publika, Telawi Bangsar, and Great Eastern Mall.
