Youmiqi Cuisine: Seafood & authentic Shunde cuisine

Restaurant serves authentic dishes prepared by chefs from Shunde district in China.

SEAFOOD lovers, look no further as you can have your choice of seafood items all stewing in a copper wok at Youmiqi Cuisine along Old Klang Road.

Aside from feasting your taste buds on a variety of seafood at the restaurant, you can also sample authentic Shunde cuisine as there are six chefs from Shunde cooking up a storm in the kitchen.

Shunde is a district of in the city of Foshan in Guangdong Province, China, which also houses legendary martial artist Bruce Lee’s ancestral home.

Youmiqi Cuisine managing director Kelven Poon was so impressed with Shunde cuisine during a visit there that he and his business partners decided to bring it to Malaysian shores.

“Not many people know that Cantonese cuisine has its roots in Shunde.

“Youmiqi is a popular brand there and with the blessing of the owners, we opened a Youmiqi restaurant in Malaysia.

“Hopefully people can learn more about Cantonese and Shunde cuisine here,” he said.

For appetisers, we were served cucumber, jelly fish and chicken feet.

It was my first time tasting chicken feet and I was surprised by its soft texture.
