Fresh Market Dining at InterContinental Kuala Lumpur

Choose from 10 cooking styles and have the chef whip it up for you on the spot as InterContinental Kuala Lumpur hotel’s all-day dining restaurant Serena Brasserie rolls out its new fresh market dining concept.
Guests will really be spoilt for choice with over an extensive offering of garden-crisp vegetables, succulent air-flown seafood such as sea bass fillet, salmon fillet, tiger prawn, and mussels, as well as meat and poultry selections like Australian beef striploin, tenderloin, ribs, lamb rack and duck.
On the day of the launch, we had yellowfin tuna that was just flown in from Japan.
Then, choose from 10 types of cooking styles to choose from such as bouillabaisse broth, Portuguese stew, stone-grilled, cordon bleu, deep fried batter-breaded, teriyaki flair, pan-seared, meat stew braised, confit, and ragout.

The chefs at Serena Brasserie will cook it based on the chosen style, or opt for a different savour that will bring a diverse zest to the typical cuisine.
If you are clueless like me, just ask the chef for recommendations. The chef opted teriyaki for my salmon and it was absolutely wonderful.
Serena Brasserie’s chef de cuisine Suhalmi Tasir said the all-new dining concept delivers the opportunity for guests to try fresh, quality produce, in their preferred method of cooking: “The Fresh Market dining connects guests to the visual (imagery of the produce), olfactory (fragrance of produce), and kinesthetic (sense of touch) aspect to their cuisine, while granting the freedom to explore a diverse savour to the typical cuisines, with the 10 styles of cooking preparations by the chefs.”
“I believe we are among the first to offer this concept of dining, we hope to set the trend.
“We offer a variety of Asian and Western cuisines. While most places offer just Japanese and Italian cuisines, we also have international delights like Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian namely the Paella Valencia (a traditional Spain rice dish), Arroz de Marisco (Portuguese seafood rice), and the Risotto ai funghi (an Italian risotto dish); these are prepared with the creamy savour of seasonal Grana Padano cheese,” he said.
He also recommended Serena Brasserie’s Sang Har Mein, a combination of hor fun and rice vermicelli in a gravy of smooth egg sauce with freshwater prawns.
There’s also a selection of freshly squeezed juices; just pick your preferred combination and it will be delivered straight to your table.

Satiate your sweet tooth with sinful selections of desserts, with daily live station of onde-onde, banana boat, or berry cobbler.

I was ecstatic to see that my favourite Kapiti ice-cream from New Zealand is also served here; even though I was stuffed with all the good food, I cannot say no to the Triple Choc ice cream.
