Korean vegetarian food: Jogyesa Kitchen
For affordable vegetarian food, Jogyesa Kitchen is the place to be.
For vegetarians, it is not an easy task to find suitable food in Korea as even some kimchi contain fish stock or other seafood.
Hence, we know we must visit Jogyesa Kitchen for some Korean vegetarian food.
It is managed by the Buddhist temple Jogyesa and located near the temple.
We found out about this place online and true to what other visitors have experienced, it was not easy to locate this place but we found it eventually.
First you have to buy the meal voucher at the souvenir shop. Don't worry the staff will point you to the right place.
The meal voucher is priced at 4,000 won (as of 2016 when we visited).
I didn’t know what to order and chose the first two items on the menu: Janchi Guksu 잔치국수 (noodles) and Miyeok ongsimi 미역 옹심이 (seaweed broth with rice balls).
You can help yourself to the kimchi, rice and soup at the counter.
I love the Janchi Guksu and the free flow of kimchi.
Our dishes came without egg but I read online that some dishes may contain egg so it’s best that you check with the staff first if you are vegan.
We ordered Janchi Guksu 잔치국수 (noodles) and Miyeok ongsimi 미역 옹심이 (seaweed broth with rice balls).
